Sign ups have begun for XLAN 2011 1-3 July. This will be the second year the new owners have held this tournament along with many changes one of the key changes will be the change in Venue. With it still being held in Auckland NZ it will be moving from the beloved Telstra Clear Stadium to the ASB Showgrounds (Logan Campbell Centre).
This new venue is much smaller than TCS so will only be accommodating approx. 650 players with console players also missing out. They will be having their own lan towards the end of July.
Multi tournement registration is back this year and although it didnt quite work out how organisers and players had hope lets hope they get it right this year.
There are three type of tickets ranging from $90-$165. Visit here for more details.

Looks pretty sweet but from the looks of things you only get gigabit if your in the premium area? does that mean the other 500 people only get 10/100?
I know your not really allowed to share your ‘linux distro’s’ at a lan but 100mbit is pretty old school?
Correct basically they are just trying to make money off those people that want to share their “linux distros”. 10/100mbit has been normal for xlan. Cost far to much to have a decent switch running all ports at 1gb. Might have to ask what equipment they will be using in the premium area.
Certianly seems like a money maker scheme, but why not I guess. Youd be looking over 10k at least for a decent, large (or or multi stacked) gigabit switch, and the knowledge to configure it. but thats what sponsors are for! :)
